Lady A – Superyacht Drydocking

Find Answers

Burgess Marine needed to dry dock the M.Y. Lady A swiftly without sacrificing safety, and Houlder's tailored skidding supports ensured a precise and timely docking.

Precision Under Pressure

Time is everything for ship repairers. A tight schedule can make or break a project. The challenge? Meeting deadlines without compromising safety and precision.

Burgess Marine faced this with the 53.8m M.Y. Lady A. The task was to dry dock the superyacht for a refit, and time was critical.

Houlder designed yacht-specific docking arrangements for Lady A, ensuring a secure lift and safe transit. We crafted skidding supports, liaising with Burgess Marine for timely fabrication and installation.

Our role continued onsite, assisting with the ALE Skidding arrangements to ensure Lady A was safely docked and ready for refit.

The result?

A smooth transition from sea to dry dock. Lady A was positioned with precision, ready for refit, thanks to our timely intervention. A well-executed operation.

We reinforced the upper deck edge for the yacht's tenders, using a stainless steel design clad in composite. Weight changes were monitored, and stability records were updated through NAPA simulations and an incline experiment.

This project highlights the importance of collaboration and precision in maritime engineering. In superyacht refits, every detail counts. With the right expertise, even tight deadlines can be met effectively.
