What HOME offers

HOME is your beacon through the intricacies of maritime innovation. It’s a dynamic environment where we apply our comprehensive insights to empower your fleet with:

Integrated GHG Technology and ESDs: Performance prediction, monitoring, and validation of GHG technologies such as wind-assisted propulsion and air lubrication systems, alongside strategies for adopting multiple Energy Saving Devices (ESDs) and evaluating their performance.

Hull Optimisation for Realistic Operations: By modelling the actual operational conditions of ships, we aim to optimise hull designs for maximum efficiency during real-world operations, moving beyond generic design points to tailor solutions to specific operational scenarios.

Fleet Operational Optimisation: Fleet operational optimisation for maximising performance across all voyages.

Holistic Energy-Based Modelling: Energy-based modelling for a holistic view on vessel efficiency, integrating all aspects of ship operation for comprehensive efficiency analysis

Embracing these aspects within HOME, we extend beyond simply advising — we partner with you on a journey through the evolving the maritime sector. HOME will ensure your fleet remains both compliant and competitive in a future where efficiency and sustainability are realities.

A typical project enabled by HOME – LNG fleet operational profile

We’re undertaking a research and development project focused on charting a course for the future of the LNG fleet. At this foundational stage, our aim is to understand the operational patterns and efficiency levels of the fleet by analysing detailed operational data. Utilising HOME™, alongside our proficiency in hydrodynamics and design consultancy, we’re formulating constructive strategies to shape the next generation of ships and outlining a decarbonisation pathway for the existing fleet.

SWOPP Programme

We’re excited to participate in SWOPP (SSPA Workshop on Performance Prediction), a leading project for wind-powered and wind-assisted ship performance predictions, alongside 17 other prominent organisations. Hosted by RISE (former SSPA), this initiative involves comparative analysis using data from two generic ships, with results discussed in a collaborative workshop and potentially contributing to a joint publication. Our engagement in SWOPP enhances our digital twin solutions with cutting-edge insights, ensuring our clients benefit from the most advanced, sustainable maritime technologies available.

The significance of operational modelling, digital twins, and operational performance prediction in the maritime industry is increasingly recognized for its potential to revolutionize fleet management, port operations, and the broader supply chain. Digital twins, serving as dynamic digital representations of physical systems, enable the maritime sector to simulate and analyse operations in unprecedented detail. This approach allows for strategic and operational decision-making based on historical, ongoing, and predictive analytics of business transactions and environmental conditions.

DNV emphasizes the rapid digitalization and automation within the maritime industry, pointing towards a future where operational efficiency and decarbonization are central themes. The use of digital twins, for example, is seen as a key strategy for fleet and port optimisation, enabling shipping companies to maintain competitiveness through enhanced operational decision-making under diverse contextual factors

Spire Maritime’s insights into maritime digital trends for 2021 reveal that predictive analytics, data mining, predictive modelling, and machine learning are gaining momentum in the industry. This momentum is driven by the need to analyse historical and current Big Data to predict factors impacting day-to-day operations. The benefits of predictive models include improved decision-making, optimized route planning, and increased energy efficiency, all contributing to a more data-driven maritime industry
