Aerodynamic Studies

We use RANS CFD to study an ever-increasing range of aerodynamic problems. These have included:

  • Wind Assist Devices – Performance and interaction effects of Flettner rotors, this data can then be used as an input to our operational analysis tool, HOME.
  • Deck Ventilation – Review and optimize internal air flow around cargo spaces, studying the effects of varying internal ventilation arrangements
  • Superstructure Resistance – Assess aerodynamic resistance and for concept designs, design the superstructure to minimise aerodynamic resistance
  • Aerodynamic Coefficients – Obtain aerodynamic force coefficients in surge, sway and yaw across a full range of angles of attack.
