Simon has over 30 years’ experience in a wide range of activities within the marine sector. For the past fifteen years he has been a director of ship owning and operating companies as well as engineering companies operating in the marine environment. As a chartered Naval Architect he has extensive experience of design, analysis and project management.
Simon is a former CFO of a global technology PR business which he joined from Price Waterhouse. A trained engineer, he went on to gain an MBA from Ashridge Business School prior to establishing a financial change management business in 2003. His experience includes preparing several SME finance departments for expansion and change.

Peter Hickson’s experience comprises fifteen years’ within an offshore drilling and construction contracting business where, for eight years, he was the Managing Director and sat on the boards of various associated and subsidiary companies. This has been followed by a further twenty-three years operating his own company as a consultant in the Offshore industry with commercial, financial and legal clients and projects in the Far East, India, Africa, South America, USA and Europe. He has worked on over £4.0 billion of projects during this time.
Mike Simpson is a Chartered Engineer and Principal Naval Architect with over thirty years of experience in the commercial shipping industry. He has a wealth of experience in leading the design of a broad range of offshore support vessels, cable layers and FPSOs as well as more conventional tonnage and passenger vessels.
Neil has over twenty-five years of operational offshore energy experience. Operating from Houlder’s Aberdeen office, he leads multi-disciplinary project teams from across the business. He is accountable for solving the complex engineering challenges to come such as developing small to mid-scale LNG infrastructure. This is reflected by our collaborations with KLAW LNG, Trelleborg and Wärtsilä
Mark is highly experienced in the operation and maintenance of floating units and other offshore infrastructure. He leads a wide range of Houlder’s offshore engineering activities, Mark supports multi-disciplinary offices and site-based teams supporting a growing number of large and complex client projects. These include turnkey rig SPS upgrades and life extensions, a wide range of capacity and capability upgrades, equipment installation and mobilisations and works resulting from changes in Classification. A former senior fleet engineer for Prosafe, Mark is ideally placed to serve our offshore energy clients. His knowledge and experience, gained through front line operational engineering, means he understands challenges.
Jonathan is a naval architect with considerable technical experience including leading the detailed design and construction of the UK’s first Dual Fuel LNG Passenger Ferries for Caledonian Macbrayne and Ferguson’s shipyard.
Julian has led multi-vessel design, build and procurement projects for numerous International Operators. He has proven expertise in managing technical work scopes including builds in Europe, South America and the Far East, as well as commercial, legal and contractual matters related to procurement management, design, plan approval, construction and delivery. As such he is ideally placed to act as client representative and technical advisor on a wide range of projects.
