Wind-assist clean technology project led by Smart Green Shipping to focus on…
Offshore Wind Energy North East

Houlder is delighted to be exhibiting at the NOF Energy Offshore Wind Energy North East Conference and Exhibition. The event, held at Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield, November 9th, is also an opportunity to hear James Russell (pictured), Houlder’s Tyneside-based Marine Equipment Director speak as part of an industry panel.
Hosted by NOF Energy with Energi Coast, the exhibition and conference form the cornerstone of a week of activities. Offshore Wind Week, 6th – 10th of November, showcases the North East of England and its expertise, experience and capability to develop the UK’s offshore renewables sector.
Houlder’s Tyneside operation, in Bolden Business Park, has grown steadily in importance since being established in 2011. It doubled in size in its first two years, won two South Tyneside Business Awards by 2014 and is now home to over thirty engineers, designers, draughtspeople and project delivery experts.
NOF Energy Offshore Wind Energy North East highlights the strength of the region’s offshore supply chain. The oil & gas sector and shipbuilding industry have both led to a strong local skills base which is playing an ever increasing role in the development of the UK’s offshore wind industry. In Houlder’s case, our 30 year history of providing independent marine and offshore engineering consultancy has been combined with an entrepreneurial appetite for innovation and investment in new skills and people. The latter includes a commitment to local apprenticeships and graduate recruitment.
Houlder now has a broad range of offshore wind products and services including pile handling equipment (main picture). As a result, the company is working with major utilities and contractors across Europe. Examples include work on Rampion, Horns Rev 3, Galloper and the Walney Extension windfarm projects. Clients include E.ON Climate and Renewables, MPI Offshore, Siemens Wind Power and other leading utilities and contractors.
