New Director of Offshore Engineering
Houlder has announced that Mark Goalen has joined the team as Director, Offshore Engineering. Formerly a senior fleet engineer with Prosafe, Mark is highly experienced in the operation and maintenance of floating units and other offshore infrastructure.
In his new role, leading a wide range of Houlder’s offshore engineering activities, Mark will support multi-disciplinary office and site-based team supporting a growing number of large and complex client projects. These include turnkey rig SPS upgrades and life extensions, a wide range of capacity and capability upgrades, equipment installation and mobilisations and works resulting from changes in Classification. Houlder’s aim is consistently to reduce operator risk by providing a high standard of design, engineering and project delivery.
Houlder’s Chief Executive Officer Rupert Hare commented; “based in the company’s base in Aberdeen Science and Energy Park, Mark is ideally placed to serve our offshore energy clients. His knowledge and experience, gained through front line operational engineering, means he understands their challenges. He can lead the delivery of the proactive, innovative solutions they have become used to, while looking for new opportunities to add value to their businesses.”
Key to success is the fact that clients can find all the technical support upstream assets require under one roof. This includes supply of marine equipment, project management services, design and analysis work and technical consultancy. Trade teams are recruited directly and deployed to anywhere in the world. Baku, Azerbaijan, with just a few days’ notice, is a typical request fulfilled by the team which includes project managers, administrators and document controllers. Closer to home, a large team worked off Scapa Flow on accommodation upgrades over the last two years.
Rupert concludes; “Houlder has maintained a strong reputation though its people over the years, and in Aberdeen particularly. We are delighted to welcome Mark as the latest addition to our management team.”
