Jonathan Strachan (pictured) is attending the Monaco Yacht Show, September 27th to 30th as part of a Department of International Trade (DiT) South East mission aimed at boosting UK marine exports.

The Monaco Yacht Show features 125 extraordinary one-off superyachts built by the world’s most respected shipyards. It also welcomes almost 600 companies from the yachting industry supply chain to exhibit, network and do business.  The trade mission, organised by DiT South East under the Exporting is Great campaign, ensures Houlder will be amongst them.

Attendance is part of a strategy to build on Houlder’s growing body of super yacht work that include work on the successful modernisation of the historic MY Shemara and upgrade of the 55m ‘Lady A’ following its purchase by Lord Alan Sugar.

Houlder professionals work in three key phases of activity. Before the refit or build contract is considered, the team support concept development to ensure plans are well engineered. Tasks include concept design; stability assessment; safety analysis, escape and evacuation planning; fire protection; machinery arrangements and structural design. In procuring shipyard services, Houlder can act on the owners’ behalf developing a technical specification and tender documents before supporting yard selection and negotiations.  The team can then provide a range of design approval and supervisory tasks during construction to support timely delivery within budget.
