Reel Seafastening Arrangements

Houlder has regular work in designing reel seafastening arrangements for a variety of flex-lay cargoes exported globally. Reels typically vary from 100t to 330t each.

Challenges include requirements for;

  • safety in harsh environmental conditions
  • quick implementation and minimal harbour costs
  • maximum security

The design and engineering complies with DNV GL reel seafastening rules/guidelines. Houlder’s in-house method is adaptable to a variety of cargoes of all shapes, sizes and weights.

We deliver a detailed report consisting of the calculations, certifications and final drawings of the lashing and stowage arrangement. We can also provide local vessel strength verification as required.

Houlder engineers are equipped to be on-site during implementation of reel seafastening provide guidance and work with the client, ship and marine warranty surveyors to achieve an effective and safe solution, while minimising delays  if changes are required.
