Marine consultancy

Houlder naval architects and marine engineers are able to provide a full range of consultancy services and advice to vessel owners and operators.

All works are undertaken in accordance with the requirements of Class and Statutory Authorities and are submitted for approval as required.

Stability
Preparation of intact and damage stability analyses to Class requirements including the assessment of the watertight integrity of the unit. The information is then presented within a Trim and Stability Booklet.

Inclining Experiments and Deadweight Surveys
Preparation of inclining experiment procedures and the management of the operation onboard the unit.

Loading Spreadsheets

Provision of Class approved loading spreadsheets to be used for the daily stability check onboard.

Ship Motions
Determination of ship response characteristics to provide information to structural and mechanical engineering disciplines to optimise design. Response Amplitude Operators (RAOs) and point specific motions, velocities and accelerations are evaluated for particular environmental conditions.

Mooring and Dynamic Positioning (DP)

Evaluation of performance under site- specific environmental data including provision of watch circles, powering requirements, chain lengths and anchor arrangements.

Ship Particulars
Computer modelling of ship designs to produce hydrostatic data, stability curves, longitudinal strength calculations and tank calibrations.

Model Testing
Oversight and co-ordination of model testing to evaluate ship motions and verify vessel speed and powering requirements.

Ship Integration

Design of all structural and systems alterations to install additional or alternative equipment.
