Ship conversions

General Cargo Ship Conversion - Houlder naval architects surveyed and valued four Russian-owned Ice Class Supply Vessels of 16,000 D.W.T. These vessels were then converted to improve their fuel efficiency and carrying capacity for new owners.

Passenger Ship Conversion - Houlder developed the design of a passenger ship from a deep water Ro-Ro. The converted vessel is capable of carrying 1,400 passengers.

Pipelayer Conversion - Houlder engineered the conversion of the Seaway Falcon from a cable layer to lay rigid pipe of up to 12" diameter and flexible flowlines. The project included the installation of project equipment, a new accommodation arrangement, a new flight deck and deck strengthening. The stability and longitudinal strength for the converted vessel were also checked and alterations designed to ensure the safety of the ship in its new role. The modifications were designed at Houlder and the work was supervised by Houlder personnel.

Big Orange XVIII - The vessel was converted to carry liquid nitrogen with the capability of pumping it from the surface to the bottom of previously drilled exploration wells. The project was carried out from the concept to the completion at the shipyard with Houlder managing the complete works.
