Offshore

Houlder has a long history of working in the offshore industry through its founder chairman, John Houlder, after whom the ‘Uncle John’ semi-submersible rig is named.

We have long-established working relationships with many of the leading offshore companies and have a track record for designing and implementing solutions which work.

Over the last three years, we have focused on ship designs which have the capability for future field development, deepwater pipelay and deepwater drilling. These have included the design for a well intervention and support vessel which can quickly and cost-effectively service subsea wells.

This design concept work has kept Houlder at the forefront of technology in addition to our ship conversion and drilling rig upgrade work for major subsea construction companies for whom we have undertaken a wide range of projects. These include the design and supply of mud gas separators; design of cargo recovery systems, pipe lay systems and pipe handling systems; BOP upgrades, and Xmas tree handlers.
