Feasibility Study for Well Stimulation Conversion
Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
Houlder was asked to assess the feasibility of converting a platform supply vessel into a Well Stimulation vessel. The resulting vessel will be capable of performing Hydraulic Fracturing and Acid Stimulation treatments. These specialist well treatments require a mixture of water, chemicals and sand to be pumped into the well at high pressure.
They can increase well productivity and bypass damage to the reservoir. The vessel deck is to be equipped with specialist high pressure mixing and pumping equipment. The vessel will also need to be connected to an offshore structure utilising a range of high pressure hoses while maintaining position dynamically. Finally, tanks once used for transporting oil and water will need to be converted for storing treatment consumables ready for pumping. All the new and upgraded equipment, both above and below the main deck will be remotely controlled from a stimulation control room in a new accommodation module.
Houlder’s assessment of the conversion enabled the client to move forward with confidence.
